Outdoor Watering Ban In Effect

Effective June 11 at 5:00PM, an Emergency Outdoor Watering ban is in effect for all properties connected to City Water within the City of Lake Elmo until further notice. To protect the health and safety of the consumers, Acting Mayor Lisa McGinn has imposed emergency regulations pertaining to city water use.

Due to current and forecasted weather conditions there is an increased demand of water for irrigation of lawns. Despite the additional well coming online last week, city water system facilities are struggling to meet the current demand, and water levels in City water towers are lower than what is necessary to provide adequate fire protection services.

This Emergency Outdoor Watering Ban prohibits all outdoor watering by mechanical or automatic means, irrigation, and vehicle washing. Hand held watering of flowers, gardens and landscaping is permitted, pool filling (both wading and swimming pools) is permitted, water toys/water sprinklers for children actively playing are permitted.

Properties that have new sod or seed must obtain a Watering Ban Waiver from the City for irrigation during the Emergency Outdoor Water Ban. To obtain a Watering Ban Waiver, please call City Hall at 651-747-3900. Properties using private wells are excluded from this ban.
