Burning Permits

Burning permits are required for any fire that is larger than a recreational fire (3’x3’x3′). Permits may be obtained at City Hall. The fees for permits are as follows:
Residential: $45.00. These permits are issued to homeowners for their place of residence.
Commercial: $80.00. These are issued to commercial properties, contractors conducting burns, contractors for hire that are conducting burns.
Once a permit is applied for an inspection will occur within one week, and the applicant will be contacted.

NO PERMITS WILL BE ISSUED DURING BURNING RESTRICTIONS OR BURNING BANS. ONLY PERMITS APPROVED BY THE DNR WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THESE TIMES.

When starting or tending a fire, regardless of the size, consider the conditions.  Is it too windy to burn? Is it too dry to burn?   Current conditions can be found on the MN DNR website.
