Speak Your Peace – Public Invited to Community Pledge Signing May 21

The public is invited to attend a civility pledge signing event on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Elmo City Hall. The pledge signing will serve as a kick-off event Speak Your Peace, a campaign aimed at enhancing a culture of civility throughout the Lake Elmo community by providing training and bringing awareness to nine tools of civility. The campaign was introduced on April 16, 2013, when members of city council passed a resolution adopting the Nine Tools of Civility as the foundational principles by which they conduct the business of the council. On May 21st, council members, commissioners, city staff, and community leaders will make a public and personal commitment to abide by these principles, when they gather to sign the Speak Your Peace Pledge. By this they will be setting the tone (and example) for a community that values civic engagement. Citizens including business owners, community groups, and residents are encouraged to attend and show their support for this effort by signing the pledge as well.

Keats Avenue Closed to Through Traffic May 14, 10 AM to 3 PM
