Police service for the City of Lake Elmo is provided by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office responds to non-emergency and emergency calls for services, enforces laws and ordinances, investigates crimes, apprehends criminals and provides proactive and community law enforcement services to the citizens of Lake Elmo.

Red Zone Traffic Initiative
The City of Lake Elmo and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are working together to address citizens’ traffic concerns. The traffic enforcement initiative is called “Red Zone.” This initiate allows the Sheriff’s Office to concentrate on areas where residents have recognized problems such as speeding.
Deputies will then spend extra time towards traffic enforcement in these areas. Hopefully, with this combination of education, visibility, and enforcement we can make a positive impact in our city. Please let the City of Lake Elmo know if there is an area of concern in your neighborhood. Helpful information to include would be where the concern is occurring and the time of day it is occurring.
