The City of Lake Elmo is announcing the availability of the Savona Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for public review and comment. This mandatory EAW has been prepared for a 312 unit residential housing development to be located within the City of Lake Elmo between 10th Street (CSAH 10) and Hudson Boulevard and immediately west of Keats Avenue (CSAH 19). This project has been proposed by Lennar Corporation and represents the first residential project in Lake Elmo that would be served by public sanitary sewer service.
The Savona residential development is proposed on approximately 112.5 acres of primarily agricultural land in the southern portion of Lake Elmo. The project is proposing 190 single-family lots and 122 multi-family dwelling units. Twenty-seven acres of open space is also planned, which will include buffers, parks, woods, and ponds. Access will initially be provided to the site via a new minor collector road that is intended to provide a connection between Inwood Avenue (CSAH 13) and Keats Avenue (CSAH 19). The site is guided for low density and medium density residential development and is consistent with the recently adopted Lake Elmo Comprehensive Plan for the I-94 corridor.
Comments received on the EAW will be used by the City of Lake Elmo to evaluate the potential for significant environmental impacts from the project and to determine the need for an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Written comments concerning the Savona EAW should be submitted to:
